This Shadowlands Engineering leveling guide will show you the fastest and easiest way how to level your Shadowlands Engineering skill up from 1 to 100.
See expanded profiles for more than 2,000 programs. Unlock entering class stats including LSAT, MCAT, GMAT and GRE scores for business, law, medicine, engineering, education and nursing programs. Engineering World Quests in Shadowlands. Engineering World quests pop up every few days in one of the Shadowlands zones. They all give +1 Shadowlands Engineering skill point. Just look for a little Engineering icon on your world map. (requires level 60) So, if you don't want to rush to 100, you can save some gold by completing these quests.
This guide's primary focus is leveling Engineering, but you can visit my Shadowlands Engineering Guide if you want to read more about the new changes, engineering bonuses, and recipes.
Engineering is the best combined with Mining because you can farm most of the needed materials, and you will save a lot of gold. So, check out my Mining leveling guide if you want to level Mining before Engineering. But, the fastest way to level this profession is to buy everything from the Auction House.
I recommend using Zygor's 1-60 Leveling Guide if you are still leveling your character or you just started a new alt. The guide is in a small window on your main screen in-game. All the detail that you need to complete the quests are included. You’ll never have to switch back to a website, or even the in-game main map to see where you have to go or what’s next. And if you are low on gold, I recommend trying this Gold Making Guide, it can help you to make a lot of gold.
Shadowlands Engineering Trainer Location
You can learn Shadowlands Engineering from Machinist Au'gur in Oribos in the Hall of Shapes. (Coordinates: 38.1, 44.7)
Oribos is the new Shadowlands city hub for both factions. You will arrive there after you finish the Shadowlands intro quests, so you can learn the new profession recipes before you head out questing.
Machinist Au'gur
Engineering Tools
You will need some kind of tool to craft most engineering items. These tools are:
- Blacksmith Hammer - Sold by Engineering or Blacksmith supply vendor.
- Arclight Spanner - Requires 50 skill in Vanilla Engineering to craft.
- Gyromatic Micro-Adjustor - Requires 175 skill in Vanilla Engineering to craft.
- High-Powered Bolt Gun - Requires 15 skill points in Cataclysm Engineering to craft.
To save some bag space, I highly recommend getting a Gnomish Army Knife. It replaces all of these tools, so you only have to carry one item with you.
The Gnomish Army Knife also replaces Jeweler's Kit, Virtuoso Inking Set, Runed Copper Rod, so if you have any of these in your inventory, you can throw it out.
Where to get The Gnomish Army
You can buy the Ultimate Gnomish Army Knife from the Auction House.
If you already learned Draenor engineering, you can craft one Ultimate Gnomish Army Knife for 5 Gearspring Parts. (Craft one Gearspring Parts for 15 x True Iron Ore, 15 x Blackrock Ore. It will actually create 8 Gearspring Parts).
You can also craft Gnomish Army Knife if you have Northrend Engineering, but it's usually more expensive to make or buy.
Approximate Materials Required
- 330 x Laestrite Ore
- 200 x Porous Stone
- 24 x Twilight Bark
- 30 x Luminous Flux - Sold by vendors.
- 30 x Machinist's Oil - Sold by vendors.
- 15 x Oriblase
- 15 x Angerseye
- 20 x Shrouded Cloth
- 4 x Umbryl
You can buy Luminous Flux and Machinist's Oil from Distributor Au'burk. He also sells a few Twilight Bark but in limited supply, so he won't always have it.
Check out my farming guides if you want to farm any of these ores:
Leveling Shadowlands Engineering
Gnome characters have +15 Engineering skill because of their passive Engineering Specialization, and Kul Tiran characters have +5 from the trait Jack of All Trades.
Any extra Engineering skill means recipes stay orange for more points. You can save a lot of gold by doing lower level recipes for more points.
Where is the Anvil in Oribos?
You can find the anvils near the forge in the middle of the Hall of Shapes. A bit annoying, but you will have to walk back and forth from the anvil to the engineering trainer.
1-25
You can buy Luminous Flux and Machinist's Oil from Distributor Au'burk. They are not listed in the guide for most recipes since you can just buy a bunch of them from the vendor. He also sells a few Twilight Bark but in limited supply, so he won't always have it.
Both of these will be used in most Shadowlands Engineering recipes, so make all of them now for 'free' skill points.

Darkmoon Faire free +5 skill points
Check your Calendar in-game to see if the Darkmoon Faire is open. You can find the in-game calendar in the top right corner of your minimap. The Darkmoon Faire event starts at 00:01 on the first Sunday of each in-game calendar month.
You can gain +5 skill points by completing a single quest. Check out my Darkmoon Faire Profession Quests Guide to read more about the quests.
91 - 97
2 x Flexible Ectoplasmic Specs - 6 Wormfed Gear Assembly, 10 Handful of Laestrite Bolts, 4 Umbryl, 20 Shrouded Cloth
You can make any other goggles. (make the one that can be used by your class)
97 - 100
It's just simply not worth rushing to 100 with green recipes. So, I recommend doing the Engineering World Quest every few days for these last 3 points. They show up every 3-4 days. (check the world quest part above for more details) But, if you want to reach 100 faster, your only option is basically to make more Engineering Goggles.
Schematic: PHA7-YNX is the only recipe that you cannot craft anyway, and you can't even buy the recipe until you reach Exalted reputation with the Ascended faction. Reaching exalted will probably take more than a month of grinding.

Engineering Careers
Deploying no-contact vitals-sensing kiosks across campus
When MIT announced plans to welcome back some undergraduates, ramp up research operations, and increase the number of staff on campus this past fall, its administration was faced with the challenge of doing so in a way that minimized the risk of an outbreak on campus. In typical MIT fashion, several teams of engineers and […]Cracking the Secrets of an Emerging Branch of Physics
Thanh Nguyen is in the habit of breaking down barriers. Take languages, for instance: Nguyen, a third-year doctoral candidate in nuclear science and engineering (NSE), wanted “to connect with other people and cultures” for his work and social life, he says, so he learned Vietnamese, French, German, and Russian, and is now taking an MIT […]Lessons from the Clean Air Car Race 50 Years Later
1970 was a milestone year for efforts to combat air pollution. On April 22, the first Earth Day was celebrated. The 1970 Clean Air Act was the first policy to establish federal regulations on car and industry emissions. In July, President Nixon announced his plan to establish the United States Environmental Protection Agency by the […]Exploring speech recognition with industry experts
Lillian ‘Lilly’ Papalia, a rising junior in mechanical engineering, is enrolled in the New Engineering Education Transformation (NEET)’s Autonomous Machines thread. Her team won the GM/MIT Blacktop Build during MIT’s Independent Activities Period (IAP) and in doing so carried forward a NEET tradition — NEET Autonomous Machines student Sebastian Uribe was among four winners of […]The impact of climate change on the ocean
“I think ocean engineering as a field is really interesting because it marries the holistic side of living on planet Earth with solving all the technical challenges mechanical engineers face,” explains Michelle Kornberg, now a senior. This balance of using fundamental theories in areas like fluid dynamics, controls, and acoustics to solve problems in underwater environments has been a driving force throughout her academic career. “I am interested in how we can apply specific ocean engineering solutions to larger global problems, particularly climate change,” Kornberg adds.
