Mysuru, December 17:- Middlemen pose a major threat in any government organisation. The common man suffers the most because of these brokers who try to take advantage of the situation. District in-charge Minister S T Somashekar on Thursday (December 17) hinted at making Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) broker-free in the days to come. “Like any other government organisation, MUDA is also suffering because of the middlemen. We want to make it a transparent organisation in the coming months.”
After inaugurating the single-window system to issue building plans to people, Somashekar, while talking to reporters, said, “MUDA has no ‘task force’ and we are seriously thinking to set up one to avoid the menace of middlemen who try to fleece the innocent public. The new single-window system is to help the public. Plan approval will be given the day application is submitted. On their part, people should avoid going to the middlemen and cooperate with MUDA.”
The minister said, “The initiative is a positive step in the right direction. On earlier occasions, people had to wait for one or two months after submitting the application. Now, this will be a thing of the past. You can approach the Assistant Director directly and he will verify the documents. If everything is fine, you need to pay the required money to get permission the same day.”
It is easier said than done. Most of the officials insist on people coming through brokers for reasons better known to them. “If there is any such complaint, the concerned official will be transferred and will also be punished. The government will not tolerate any such action from the officials. After H V Rajeev took charge as the chairman of MUDA, he is trying to take everyone into confidence for a transparent process.”
Chamaraja Constituency MLA L Nagendra, MUDA Commissioner Dr D B Natesh, BJP district president T N Srivatsa and others were present. (MR/HN/MN)
